Opportunities:
For 2016/2017, we have several openings in our labs at Caltech. Our focus will be on novel bottom-up approaches for atom-by-atom assembly of quantum many-body systems as well as on single-particle control and detection in optical lattices. Don't hesitate to write an email if you are interested in more details or if you have questions!
PhDs:
There are positions available for incoming graduate students or students who are already in the Physics, Mathematics and Astronomy, or Applied Physics graduate program.
Postdocs:
There is currently one position available. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in atom trapping and cooling techniques. Funding will be available directly by the group or by fellowships. Possibilities for Caltech fellowships include:
- IQIM postdoctoral fellowship
- Caltech Prize Fellowships for Experimental Physics or Astrophysics
- KNI Prize Postdoctoral Fellowships in Nanoscience
Deadlines for these fellowships are generally in the fall. In addition, third-party fellowships (e.g., Marie Curie international fellowships for Europeans) are also a great option.
Master thesis/research internships/international students:
We have several interesting projects suitable for conducting a Master/Diploma thesis or research internships. Non-Caltech students interested in an internship or conducting a Master/Diploma thesis should simply write an email. Full admission to Caltech is usually not necessary and visits can be arranged on an individual basis.
Undergraduate research:
There are exciting opportunities for undergraduate research for pay, for credit, or for a senior thesis.
